Central Bank of India Officers Union (West Bengal & Sikkim), our adored Organisation will be completing 25 years of its glorious journey in September, 2009. Born on 16th September,1984, the Organisation has been marching forward on principles of working class trade union movement under the banner of all India Bank Officers Association and All India Central Bank Officers’ Association for the last 2 and a half decades.
Following the decision of All India Bank Employees Association, our Organisation was formed as a separate union of officers of the Bank, to serve them on the ideology and philosophy of AIBEA, against exploitation and oppression, since we believe Officers are integral part of the working class.
It had been great privilege that our existence came with none other than the legendary leader of Bank employees movement, Comrade Tarakeswar Chakarborti as the founder President. His teachings, directions and involvement shaped the progress and growth of our organization as the majority Officers’ Organisation of Central Bank Officers in both the states of West Bengal & Sikkim since its formation. It has exemplified the unique combination of resolutely protecting the interest of the officers vis-à-vis ensuring the growth of our Bank across the zone, in towns as well in difficult terrains. The great visionary, the magnetic personality, the awe-inspiring crusedar, the brilliant writer and orator, the fighter of the petty hypocrites, friend of working people and a great human being, Dada nurtured and nourished our Union till his sad demise on 2nd May, 2003. His association benefited our organization immensely. On the occasion of our silver jubilee we recall his contribution and pay our tribute to him.
Form the very beginning, Dada cemented the bondage between Central Bank of India Employees’ Association (West Bengal & Sikkim) and ourselves as a precondition of our growth and a strong united movement of the organizations under our twin banner. With the passage of time our working together have become “the model of working together” all over the country. We therefore, consider ourselves as an integral part of CBIEA (W.B. & Sikkim) and have decided to celebrate this historic occasion jointly.
The principles without prejudice, uniqueness without utopia, determination without dogmatism, affirmativeness without desecration, vibrancy without vacillation-distinguishes our Union as a trustworthy organization for the officers of the Bank in these States and inspire others all over the country where flags of AIBOA and AICBOA fly.
Comrades, this is an occasion to be happy and rejoice recollect our rich heritage and history; refresh our values and vision renew our strength and support strengthen our determination and commitment for the Organization which has many an achievement in course of 25 years of useful and purposeful journey.
